Today, Ubisoft announced Far Cry 4, an open-world, first-person shooter that delivers the most expansive and immersive Far Cry experience ever. Far Cry 4 will be available November 18 in North America and November 20 in Europe for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and Windows PC. Development on Far Cry 4 is being led by Ubisoft Montreal in collaboration with Ubisoft’s Red Storm Entertainment, Ubisoft Toronto, Ubisoft Shanghai, and Ubisoft Kiev.

In Far Cry 4, players find themselves in Kyrat, a breathtaking, perilous and wild region of the Himalayas struggling under the regime of a despotic self-appointed king. Using a vast array of weapons, vehicles, and animals, players will write their own story across an exotic open-world landscape.

“Following the success of Far Cry 3, we wanted to take the franchise to the next level and create a game that will surprise players and exceed fans’ expectations,” said Dan Hay, Executive Producer. “Given the unique setting, we feel Far Cry 4 will stand out as a top first-person shooter and we’re eager to reveal more about the game in the coming months.”

Customers who pre-order Far Cry 4 will receive the Limited Edition which includes Hurk’s Redemption, a series of three action-packed single-player missions featuring the popular character Hurk from Far Cry 3’s DLC. The Limited Edition also includes Hurk’s signature harpoon gun called “The Impaler”. The pre-order is now available at all major retailers.

Fans can tune into Ubisoft’s Media Briefing at E3 for an exclusive first look at Far Cry 4.

Didn't see this coming quite so soon. :) I hope it's got a better story & better characterisation than the previous one. Whilst it was fun to play, those aspects were pretty disappointing for me. Get your squirrel-scrotum pouches at the ready!! lol

Trailer and gameplay video from E3 below. This one has commentary over it. During Sony's presentation it was shown as is with the game sound intact. Looks great.
A brand new Far Cry 4 gameplay trailer has revealed the game's co-op mode, the grappling hook tool, the ability to kick and shown those stomping elephants in action. And best of all, you can invite your PSN friends to join you playing the game even if they don't own it, Ubisoft said on Sony's E3 stage. This is a PlayStation-only feature (for PS3 and PS4).

The co-op mode begins dynamically when a friend joins your game. But when they join, all solo missions are turned off and you're left with only the open world. Still, hopping on the back of a tiny buzzer helicopter - effectively a one-man vehicle - and raining down bullets on a base looked like fun. This also enraged the nearby elephants, which charged into and wrecked anything in site - something you can also experience while riding them, apparently.

The footage also revealed the ability to drive and shoot at the same time, as well as leap from the driver's seat (of a tuk-tuk in this case) and onto - and then into - another vehicle. We also saw a return of the wingsuit, which is put to even better use in the mountains, and saw how - for the first time in a Far Cry game - you will be able to be attacked from above by eagles. We saw the new auto crossbow weapon as well, which trades distance for rapid fire. It was in this section that the kick ability was demonstrated, as a bomb was strapped to a barrel and hoofed at an enemy.

Far Cry 4 follows the story of Ajay Ghale, a boy who went to scatter his mother's ashes but got caught up in a civil war. Apparently Troy Baker - Booker from BioShock: Infinite and Joel from The Last of Us - will voice the game's murderous villain Pagan Min.

EDIT: Also, forgot to say, for online co-op your friends DO NOT need a copy of the game to join in! That's different. :)

I hate this trend of season passes these days. :(

Far Cry 4's Season Pass will include DLC that adds competitive multiplayer and yetis.

Priced at £23.99, the Far Cry 4 Season Pass includes the following add-ons, each available in single-player and co-op:

The Syringe - a Season Pass-exclusive mission available at launch that tasks players with keeping a drug recipe from Pagan Min's forces.
Escape from Durgesh Prison - Ajay and Hurk have been imprisoned. Help them bust out!
Hurk Deluxe Pack - Five missions with your crazy combat buddy Hurk. Includes a new harpoon gun!
Valley of the Yetis - Set in a frozen Himalayan tundra, this expansion sees players setting up camp following a helicopter crash as they must survive attacks from a mysterious cult and yetis.
There's also a new PvP mode called Overrun in which players team up as Rakshasa or Golden Path and compete to hold down a series of locations across Kyrat.

The Season Pass can be purchased at a discount if you buy it as part of the Far Cry 4: Gold Edition, which is a digital-exclusive offering on PC, PSN and Xbox Live. Far Cry 4 is out on 21st November on PS4, Xbox One, PC, PS3 and Xbox 360.
