Could have done with Harrison Ford not being in this... he doesn't need to be in the sequel to every old movie he has ever done as fan service, especially with what the implications where about his character in the original Blade Runner.

This is rating very well on aggregate review sites so far... hoping it lives up to expectations.

Below are some shorts, these fill in the gap of events between the original Blade Runner (set in 2019) and Blade Runner 2049:

I've been avoiding all trailers and reviews for this. Stuck in the US for a week so am going to see this on Saturday. Can't wait.

You would need to watch the first one first, mik. It's old but really good and way ahead of it's time.

The sequel isn't quite so good IMHO, but still a must see for anyone who enjoyed the first. They have done a pretty good job of capturing the look and feel which must have been tough. The original had a lot of the scenes modeled on a very small scale and the weather deliberately dark and gloomy to get away with doing that. That isn't going to work by today's standards. I seen it in IMAX so there is nowhere to hide.

The music was good and the look was authentic enough. The movie theater I was in must have had the sound turned all the way up to 11 as the ground was shaking when the cars flew by and the crack of gun shots was pretty cool. The storyline dragged a little in places but there is enough happening to get through this. I felt it was a little to confused and surreal but things started making more sense by the end. Perhaps it borrows a little too much from other stories as some of it felt a little too familiar. I'm so glad I didn't watch the trailers or read the reviews as it was nice to feel the story unwind. Some rather nice :boobies: scenes.

It's a 8.5 out of 10 from me and I think I'm being a little harsh. Looking forward to seeing it again sometime. I was hoping it was good enough to be a sequel to one of my favorites and it didn't disappoint. The original is at least 9.5+ in my book and is a much stronger story.

Spoiler: Final scene of the original. Not for mik!
"I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhäuser Gate. All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain. Time to die." 2049 has it's moments, but nothing as memorably emotional as that!!
