New Film Recommendations

Postby Funar » 09 Mar 2010 09:47

Perhaps this can the a thread to collect all of the recommendations for new stuff coming out?

I watched The Secret of Kells last night. This Irish animated film received an Oscar nomination this year. No way it was going to unseat Avatar, but I was pleasantly surprised at how good it is. The animation technique is a little different and the themes drawn from the luxurious illustrations from the Book of Kells are particularly well done.

Yeah I looked at that topic before posting, but that's not really what I wanted for this thread :). I was really meaning it for new stuff coming out and not a poll of everything we have ever seen, new to the cinema, new Blu-Ray or newly available to download. EDIT: Changed the title of the post.

i watched a film called 'Assembly' last night, a 2 hour chinese subtitled war film..... now for me to just sit thru a subtitled film is an acheivment in itself, but to come away from it thinking it was a great movie is as high a recomendation as i can give! a chinese saving private ryan is howd id loosely explain it especially the opening scene, based on a true story apparently

I watched Shutter Island last week and really enjoyed it. Assembly sounds good to me. I'll keep a lookout for it. Cheers badds.

Just watched Zombieland. What a great, fun movie! Woody Harrelson is ace. & Emma Stone in this! Took a while to place where I recognised her from but she was Jules in Superbad (another great, if slightly different, & hilarious movie).

Kick-Ass is an awesome movie btw. I think there's a thread somewhere here about it.
